Various types of export help, advice and funding are available from UK Trade & Investment, the Government’s export arm.

Step One – Your Local Business Link

The first step recommended is to contact your local Business Link. Along with help in setting up in the UK, Business Links have specialist advisers who will visit you and advise on how to develop your export potential. The type of help and funding available is generally flexible depending on your set-up, approach and the steps needed to begin exporting.

Export Marketing Research Scheme

Before exporting to any market it is important to do your research. UK Trade & Investment provides up to 50% funding to UK SMEs for research visits through the British Chambers of Commerce. (see info below). 

Trade Fairs – SESA Support

Funding of up to £2,500 is available for a number of overseas trade fairs through the Support for Exhibitions and Seminars Abroad Scheme (SESA). This is distributed through an accredited trade organisation.
